SUBMISSION INFORMATION DEADLINE: MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2009

Dear Artists,

This year marks the third annual DANCE GALLERY Festival, produced by VON USSAR danceworks. We are hosting a call for concert dance choreographers to be presented at our show this Fall.

Due to the large number of submissions last year, our festival will be expanded from two to three days in order to accommodate more artists.

Deadline for submissions is April 27th, 2009 and must be postmarked by this date.

Application Fee: $25 per piece

VON USSAR danceworks is a modern dance company providing an exciting opportunity for choreographers to present their work and be a part of an evocative new festival of concert dance in NYC.

We are committed to providing a venue where both emerging and established artists can share the stage to present new dance works to both an avid audience and dance professionals alike. The concept for the festival was established in response to the ever-rising costs of theater rentals that are putting a strain on artists who would love to present their work in a larger venue, but have to compromise to fit into smaller more affordable spaces.

THE DATE: September 10th, 11th and 12th , 2009

After two successful years of sold out performances, Dance Gallery festival has proved that an event like this is very much needed in NYC.

Some of the choreographers presented over the past two years were: Camille Brown, Jana Hicks, Sidra Bell, Earl Mosley, Diane McCarthy, Christian von Howard, Patrick Corbin, Carol Dilley, Isabel Gotzkowsky, Iquail Shaheed, Mojca Ussar, Gerry Houlihan, Pascal Rekoert, Charles Anderson, Ray Mercer and Rick McCullough.

Due the recent economic crisis we are all facing, we have decided not to raise this years fees for applications and production.
All entries must include a DVD of the proposed work (8-10 minutes max). You CAN submit more than one work. No works in progress or promotional videos please!

Please include a nonrefundable application fee of $25 for each work submitted, a current resume or bio (including email address
and contact information), a description of the proposed work(s), and SASE (self addressed and stamped envelope) if you would like your materials returned.

All proposed work should not be performed in or around NYC three months prior to or after the festival.

If your work is chosen you will be notified by May 8, 2009, and a $200 production Fee will be due on July 31st, 2009.
As a performing artist of the festival you will be provided with two (2) performances in a state of the art theater, professional lighting, publicity and a DVD copy of your work.
