A Unique Experience of Sublime, Unfettered Dance

CALL FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS

The Dance Gallery 2010, a national dance festival in its fourth year, is looking for concert dance choreographers. Due to increased interest in this festival, The Dance Gallery is expanding its festival to include a Houston Metro Area venue. This is an exciting opportunity for choreographers to present larger works in a fully produced dance festival that will take place in NYC and the Houston Metro Area.

Deadline for submissions is Friday April 2nd, 2010 Application Fee: $25 per work

THE PLACE: THE AILEY THEATER, NYC THE DATE: October 15th and 16th, 2010

THE PLACE: Sam Houston State University, Texas THE DATE: October 8th and 9th, 2010

Entries must include a DVD of the proposed work (max 8-10 minutes). You can submit more than one work. No promotional videos please! The entries should include the nonrefundable application fee of $25 for each work submitted, a completed application form per work submitted, a current resume or bio for the choreographer, and SASE (self addressed and stamped envelope) if you want your materials returned. Also, please indicate on the application whether you are interested in the NYC venue, the Houston Metro Area venue, or both.

The proposed work should not be performed in and around NYC three months prior or past the festival.

If your work is chosen you will be notified by April 30th, 2010, and a signed contract with a production fee ($200 for one city, $300 for two city's) will be due on May 31st, 2010.

As a part of the festival you will be provided with 2 performances in NYC and/or 2 performances in Texas. Both performances will offer a state of the art theater, professional lighting, publicity, and a documentation DVD of your work. Choreographers participating in the Houston Metro area will be provided the additional opportunity to teach master classes at Sam Houston University as a part of the festival. These classes will be compensated. A panel of judges will select 3-4 choreographers based on their work experience to teach these classes.
